I have just returned from spending the past two weeks at Forest Home leading worship for their Family Camp, weeks four and five. Forest Home is a wonderful experience, hosting 56,000 visitors a year! Our accommodations are camp-like, a small stone cabin with a bathroom to share between the five of us, decorated in early 1980s blah, blah, blah. The carpet isn't new, and quite frankly, is sure to be put to pasture, as I am not certain of it's ability to survive the summer to week nine! It's not the Four Seasons, but actually not too bad for camp living! We are grateful!
Beyond the sufferings of living in the mountains without creature comforts for two weeks, oh did I mention no cell phones, TV, or Internet? There was real life-transformation that occurred both weeks. Definitely in the campers, but most definitely, in me as well. The teaching was amazing, and the connection to God was awesome! One of the defining lyrics for my life, from one of my all-time favorite worship songs "You Are Holy," written by Reuben Morgan, is "Here in Your courts where I'm close to your throne, I found where I belong." It was good to be home again!
