As blessings would have it, Worship Leader magazine
did a review of our "Sacred Heart" cd in their September
issue.
They had this to say:
It's not often that God's worshipers consider themselves sacred.
Dirty, rotten sinning scoundrels, yes, but sacred? Mickeal McCool
would remind us that God's people are his sacred temple worthy of
lifting songs to the Father. And he does this with a rich tonality
and songwriting that harkens to the emotional charge of antebellum
hymns and gospel songs. McCool brings classical composition and
modern sensibility to his music in order to cling to the spare focus
of Christ glorified, and the result is, at times overwhelming.
"Praise Him," featured on song DISCovery 52, calls upon
the graceful images you'd expect from an eighteenth century hymnist,
while "The Lord's Prayer" showcases McCool's adept hand at
choral arrangements (appropriate as he directs the University of
California Irvine's Gospel choir). As "Sacred Heart" pours
over your spirit, you will find poetry of atonement, majestic images
of salvation and wonderfully contructed adult-contemporary songs of
praise that will enrich many parts of your worship service.
